Minister Hoxha met with German counterpart: sought visa liberalisation
Germany, 5 July 2018 - Today, Minister of European Integration, Dhurata Hoxha, in the framework of official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, held a meeting with the Minister of State for Europe, Mr. Michael Roth.
During this meeting, Minister Hoxha informed German counterpart of the recent developments in the country, reforms taken and commitment of the institutions of the country to advance integration agenda.
On this occasion, Minister Hoxha sought the support of Germany for visa liberalization process, pointing out that Kosovo met the conditions deriving from Visa Liberalisation Roadmap, which total to 95.
Moreover, Minister Hoxha informed German minister of efforts made in the fight against organised crime and corruption, and stated that this commitment will continue even after visa liberalization.
Minister Hoxha stated that citizens of Kosovo are waiting visa liberalization for a long time already and that our citizens deserve free movement.
Minister Hoxha also informed Minister Roth that Kosovo has taken necessary reforms for border control and laws on foreigners; therefore, visa liberalisation will not be abused by citizens of Kosovo, stating that our youth should be provided with the opportunity for visa-free travelling to EU countries as Kosovo strongly believes in European values and our path is joining European values.
Minister Roth thanked Minister Hoxha for the commitment and provided the support of Germany in integration path of Kosovo, highlighting that there is a lot of work to be done towards European integration and reforms are key to this process.
German Minister assured Minister Hoxha that Germany will support Kosovo in integration process and highly praised reforms taken, calling for continuation of dialogue with Serbia and reforms in key sectors.
