Minister Hoxha: Findings of the Report 2018 are being addressed with priority
Prishtina, 8th of June 2018 - During the roundtable discussions under the topic “European Union – Kosovo Report 2018”, the Minister of European Integration, Ms. Dhurata Hoxha, talked about the processes’ inclusiveness, accomplishments evidenced and challenges emerging from the report.
This thematic roundtable was also attended by Mentor Sahiti, Arben Hoti, Visar Azemi, Shpend Emini, who along with minister Hoxha, participated in the debate and responded to questions, within their field of interest, made during the roundtable discussions.
Minister Hoxha emphasised that “Kosovo’s institutions are working in all possible directions to advance the European integration process”, thereby point out the strengths and weaknesses reflected in the Country Report 2018, which are being addressed with utmost seriousness.
“We are working in several directions, with special emphasis on rule of law, economic development and fulfilment of European standards. As you might be aware, the Assembly of Kosovo on 30th of May 2018 approved the reviewed National Plan for Implementation of the SAA 2018-2022. This plan for 2017 was fulfilled to the extent of 62%”, stated Minister Hoxha.
With regard to Rule of Law, as minister Hoxha pointed out, we are working in fulfilling obligations deriving from the European Reform Agenda, National Plan for Implementation of the SAA, and addressing the Country Report challenges.
“Focus has been placed on legislation policies, consolidation of institutional structures and improvement of legislation implementation. The Public Administration Reform is being carried out in full coordination with the EU. Strengthening the Rule of Law sector will positively affect the conclusion of the visa liberalisation process, establishment of a favourable business and foreign investment climate”, stated Minister Hoxha.
The Government is working in the alignment of Kosovo legislation with that of the EU, strengthening institutional structures, which will increase the level of inter-institutional cooperation and the level of legislation implementation, emphasised Minister Hoxha, also adding the challenges in the field of environment.
“Kosovo is part of various initiatives such as the Berlin Process, Western Balkans Investment Framework, aiming to develop Kosovo and the region in different directions, and particularly in infrastructure projects” stated minister Hoxha, and expressed her gratitude to the GIZ project for the support provided in pushing the European agenda forward.
Finally, Minister Hixha, along with other members of the panel, responded to questions made during the roundtable, with special emphasis in visa liberalisation, integration process, implementation of the SAA and general reforms in this process.
