Minister Çitaku: We are laying foundation of official process for EU membership
Prishtina, June 19, 2012 - Minister of European Integration Vlora Çitaku, hosted in the delegation lead by Chief of Unit for Kosovo within General Department for Enlargement of European Commission, Mr. Lawrence Meredith and Chief of EU office in Kosovo Mr. Samuel Žbogar.
This is the first meeting as part of, Assessing Mission on the expert level of the European Commission for Feasibility Study for Stabilization Association Agreement with Kosovo. Fact-finding Mission will stay in Kosovo during this week to assess the state of each sector from the perspective of negotiation and implementation of the Stabilization Association Agreement.
Minister Çitaku said: "2012 is characterized with intensification of European Agenda. We noted progress in advancement of official relations between Kosovo and EU through the Questionnaire and Feasibility Study for Stabilization Association Agreement. We have received Visa liberalization Roadmap. We have advanced the dialogue in the field of Rule of Law. Now we are expecting that based on the submitted answers and the result of the fact-finding mission, European Commission will complete will complete the Feasibility Study for Stabilization Association Agreement in the autumn of this year. That is going to be a foundation of further advancement of European Agenda”
Mr. Lawrence Meredith, stressed: "I would like to thank Kosovo institution for their voluminous during the preparation of answers to the Questionnaire for preparation of the Feasibility Studies. During this week, European Commission has undertaken the next step in the context of preparation of Feasibility Studies, respectively arrival of the Fact-finding mission of the European Commission with the aim of assessing of each sector from the perspective of negotiation and implementation of the Stabilization Association Agreement. This is our largest mission that ever visited Kosovo and we are glad that all preparations are following properly.”
While, Mr.Samuel Žbogar, outlined: "Publication of the Feasibility Studies and distribution of Visa liberalization Roadmap are concrete evidences for the will of European Union for advancement of relation between EU and Kosovo. Through these processes, European perspective takes its concrete form for Kosovo citizens."
